It’s not the most illustrious list of features, but there’s something to be said about having a car that doesn’t suffocate you with technology. The size of the touchscreen may not impress, but its features will. It’s not the fanciest list of features, but there’s something comforting about a car that comes with easy-to-use tech. For patient people, Kia has made things equal for 2022. It’s like looking at your neighbor’s yard and then coming to the realization that yours doesn’t quite add up. It’s not a bad touchscreen, but seeing the extra real estate available in a regular Sorento leads to envy. Instead, you get a standard 8-inch unit across the lineup. Kia doesn’t fit the Sorento Hybrid with the same available 10.25-inch touchscreen on the regular model. The largest demerit facing the Sorento Hybrid is its infotainment system. Folding the rear seats down results in 45 cubic feet of cargo space, while the most the Sorento Hybrid can hold is up to 75.5 cubic feet of cargo. Behind the third row, there is 12.6 cubic feet of cargo space. Unfortunately, it’s not as spacious as its rivals. Thanks to clever packaging, the Sorento Hybrid offers the same amount of cargo space as the Sorento. The combination of a hybrid powertrain and seating for the entire family is something only a few midsize SUVs can claim. One of the Sorento Hybrid’s main benefits over other hybrids is that it offers seating for up to seven. The SX trim also includes a panoramic sunroof, a power rear liftgate, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, voice recognition and a blind-spot detection system with rear cross-traffic alert.The top-of-the-line SX-Prestige X-Line trim comes with all the bells and whistles including 1-touch up and down windows front and back, heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, surround view cameras, 12-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats and leather throughout. Buyers opting for the EX get dual-zone climate control with separate rear controls, heated front seats, a backup warning system, fog lamps, and 18-inch alloy wheels.The SX trim rides on 20-inch wheels and several body-colored exterior additions give the SUV a more cohesive look. Standard equipment on the LX includes 17-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, an HD radio, steering wheel mounted audio and cruise controls, 6 USB ports, an 8-inch touchscreen, power windows and door locks, heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals and keyless-remote entry.The S trim adds to the features with heated from seats, an 8-way power driver seat, Satellite radio, 2 more USB ports and push button start. The LX still comes with plenty of features to please those who maybe don't want to splurge too much on their new car purchase. The LX may be the lowest trim level for the Sorento, but it's far from just a basic people mover. The front-wheel drive Hybrid Sorento is powered by a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder with 227 horsepower as well as a 1.5 kWh lithium polymer battery that brings the total range to 655 miles.The Sorento comes in five trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX and SX Prestige while the hybrid version only comes in two trims, S and EX. All-wheel drive is an option across the entire lineup. Both mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2021 Kia Sorento offers two powerplants-a 2.5L 4-cylinder that makes 191 horsepower and a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes a full 281 horsepower.
